Job Description:
Under the direction of the Transportation Manager, dispatcher will be responsible for the scheduling and tracking of inbound and outbound carriers, to include the following duties:
Arranges shipments by checking loading capabilities to determine anticipating delivery requirements; placing and expediting orders.
Schedules and prioritizes transportation by examining destination, route, size, delivery times and product temperature.
Monitors internal tracking system to ensure timely delivery of shipments.
Answer telephones and direct calls.
Verifies items shipped by matching bills of lading; reconciling quantities; noting discrepancies.
Informs customers of product condition by forwarding notice of item availability, shipment date and method, and current order status.
Coordinates the replacement of, overages, shortages, and damaged items by determining optimal response of replacement or credit.
Reviews daily loading dock schedules.
Verifies inbound and outbound tracking systems to ensure on time deliveries.
Compiles, copies, sorts, and files records of dispatch activities regarding loads, rate quotes and other activities.
Prioritize time and temperature sensitive cargo for shipment and delivery.
Reviews customer orders to ensure compliance with DOT regulations.
HOURS / SCHEDULE:
Position will work 40
hours per week, schedule to be determined.
Position will require periodic schedule adjustments to meet customer, seasonal, and logistical needs.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Must be a minimum of 18 years of age.
Possess a High school diploma or GED.
Ability to multi:
task and adapt in a fast paced environment.
Ability to anticipate tasks, recognize and execute company goals and objectives.
Minimum 2 years of experience in dispatching or assisting dispatch desired.
Desktop computer skills are essential with proficiency in full range of Microsoft Office products.
Previous warehousing software experience is preferred.
Must be trustworthy, dependable.
