Summary of Functions:
Carry out task related to plant maintenance by:
o Set up, adjust, and maintain assigned equipment with responsibility for production and quality on this equipment.
o Visually inspects and tests machinery and equipment, listening for unusual sounds from machines or equipment to detect malfunction and discusses machine operation variations with supervisors or other maintenance workers to diagnose problem or repair machine.
o Dismantles defective machines and equipment and installs new or repaired parts.
o Cleans and lubricates shafts, bearings, gears, and other parts of machinery.
o Lines out, assembles, installs, and maintains pipe systems and related hydraulic and pneumatic equipment, and repairs and replaces gauges, valves, pressure regulators, and related equipment.
o Operates cutting and welding equipment to cut or join metal parts.
Responsibilities:
o Observes mechanical devices in operation and visually and audibly assesses their operation to locate causes of trouble.
o Dismantles malfunctioning systems and devices to gain access to, remove, and replace defective parts.
o Tests components using electrical, mechanical and pneumatic testing equipment for proper operation of machinery.
o Makes preventive maintenance check and inspection of assigned equipment, reports findings to supervisor, and takes appropriate action.
o Documents all work done on work orders per established procedures.
Notifies maintenance department or supervisor of recurring equipment malfunctions and corrective actions taken, and of quality problems or supplies needed.
Qualifications:
o Typical Maintenance Mechanic (III) will have at least 3 years of maintenance experience (Including Technical Education) in a manufacturing/food processing environment.
o Technical Degree/Certification is a plus o Must have knowledge of Electrical, Fabrication, and/or Ammonia.
o High school diploma or equivalent required.
o Must be able to communicate effectively in English, bilingual is a plus.
o Must have basic computer skills (Microsoft Office) o Must have preventative maintenance background o Will be expected to work overtime and weekends when business need arises.
