Written Exam (Weight 100%):
Will be conducted for the purpose of assessing the applicant's knowledge of supervisory principles; applicable local, state, and federal laws, rules, and regulations; basic accounting principles; processes and procedures in assigned area of responsibility; bookkeeping principles; standard office equipment and procedures; data entry techniques; customer service principles; recordkeeping methods.
Applicants must attain at least a 70% score on each phase of the examination process.
The Human Resources Division may solely conduct an appraisal of application materials should there be an insufficient number of candidates to warrant a written examination.
Minimum Qualifications / Employment Standards High School Diploma, G.
E.
D.
or equivalent and five years of progressively responsible lead, fiscal support, bookkeeping, accounting support or experience related to the area of assignment; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to obtain the knowledge and skill to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.
Additional RequirementsCertification of Typing/Keyboarding speed of 40 net words per minute AND certification of 10 Key speed of 120 net keystrokes per minute.
Applicants must submit a copy of their typing/keyboard certificate verifying a speed of forty (40) net words per minute and their 10 key certificate verifying a speed of one hundred twenty (120) net keystrokes per minute, issued within the last two years.
Certificates must conform to testing standards adopted by the Civil Service Commission.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Admittance to the examination will require a valid government issued photograph identification.
Applicants who are unable to present proper identification must make arrangements with the Human Resources Division prior to the test date.
A background check may be conducted for this classification.
Following an offer of employment, you may be required to submit to post offer medical and drug screening tests at County expense.
This examination will establish an eligible list from which immediate appointment(s) will be made at the Kern County Sheriff's Office.
Other permanent and temporary appointments will be made as needed.
Successful candidates will remain on the eligible list for a period of twelve-months, unless specified otherwise by the Civil Service Commission.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
