Motor Vehicle Operator

The incumbent serves as a driver within the CERS program, typically for the VASH program. The primary responsibility of the Motor Vehicle Operator is to provide non-emergent, safe, and reliable transportation of eligible veterans and their primary support person, and supplies to and from appointments within the West Los Angeles VASH catchment area. Work is routinely checked and evaluated for timeliness and condition of cargo.Major Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
Experience using patience, consideration and good judgment while transporting patients. Ability to work cooperatively with other personnel regarding the transportation of patients. Responsible for transporting Veterans and their primary support to medical appointments, Public Housing Authorities and on housing searches. Transport supplies, materials, and/or equipment for the VASH program and other CERS Programs throughout the GLA, WLA catchment area. Experience performing minor vehicle maintenance on all vehicles. Experience maintaining the cleanliness of vehicles following service policies. Performing daily inspection of each vehicle and equipment prior to use. Experience operating a variety of motor vehicles including sedans, station wagons, mini and passenger vans, 18 passenger vans. Experience operating a variety of motor vehicles on the basis of either specific trip assignments or regular established scheduled over improved or unimproved roads. Experience driving in congested traffic in major cities transporting patients to other medical facilities and/or picking up or delivering records, equipment, supplies and other items. Experience using communication devices in vehicle and how to use them properly. Work Schedule:

Experience:
A specific length of training and experience is not required, but you must show evidence of training or experience of sufficient scope and quality of your ability to do the work of this position. Evidence which demonstrates you possess the knowledge, skills, and ability to perform the duties of this position must be supported by detailed descriptions of such on your resume. Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Federal Wage System Qualification Standards. LICENSE REQUIREMENT:
You must possess a current and active Class C or higher Commercial Driver's License (CDL). PLEASE NOTE:
A copy of your current Commercial Driver's License or other proof must be submitted with your application package. Failure to submit supporting documentation of the required CDL will result in an ineligible rating. SCREEN-OUT ELEMENT:

Those applicants who appear to possess at least the minimal acceptable qualification requirement are considered for further rating; those who do not are rated ineligible and are eliminated. A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Physical Requirements:
The employee exerts moderate physical effort and must be able to assist patients into and out of the vehicle, which involves physical exertion and frequent stopping bending, and lifting of patients. Driver must also be able to load and assist wheelchair patients, often with no assistance. Considerable physical effort may be required to change tires and make limited emergency repairs. Working Conditions:
Vehicles are operated in all types of traffic and weather conditions on public roads and there is exposure to the danger of serious accidents. The employee drives in heavy traffic and at highway speeds over complicated road and interchange system.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
