BLM Criminal Investigators (Special Agents) have interstate responsibility to investigate violations of Federal laws and regulations relating to the management, use and development of the public lands and their resources. These include those investigations related to hazardous materials violations, Federally-owned minerals (fraud/theft); controlled substance violations; theft, sale, and destruction of archaeological and paleontological resources; assault, threat, or intimidation of Bureau employees, theft of timber and other natural resources; and wildfire arson; trespass; wild horse & burro adoption violations; violations of closures to protect public lands; and damage, theft, or vandalism of Government property. In order to be rated as qualified for this position, we must be able to determine that you meet the specialized experience requirement - please be sure to include this information in your resume. To be creditable, this experience must have been equivalent in difficulty and complexity to the next lower grade of the position to be filled.To qualify at the GS-12:
One (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-11) in the federal service. Specialized experience is experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. Examples of specialized experience are those which demonstrated knowledge of the full range of law enforcement activities, including comprehensive experience and knowledge in using criminal investigative techniques and laws of evidence; experience in working multi-jurisdictional and complex criminal investigations, testifying in a court of law; documentation of a criminal investigation in investigative reports; a knowledge of Federal and state laws; knowledge of administrative, civil and criminal proceedings; and experience coordinating criminal investigations. There is no substitution of education at the GS-12 grade level.You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement.Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade requirement in accordance with 5 CFR 300.604. If you are a current Federal employee in the General Schedule (GS) pay plan and applying for a promotion opportunity, you must have completed a minimum of 52 weeks at the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression for the position being filled.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
