Registered Nurse, (Outpatient MH)

NOTE:
There is one (1) vacancy at the Bakersfield CBOC and two (2) vacancies at the San Luis Obispo CBOC. Job duties may include, but are not limited to:
Demonstrates a high level of clinical expertise, leadership, and creative approaches to management of complex mental health care; Collaborates and consults with other interdisciplinary treatment teams and programs to promote and enhance the care of patients; Participates in the care coordination with interdisciplinary staff both within the medical center and in the community setting; Evaluates and initiates appropriate health care intervention for veterans; Demonstrates leadership in delivering and improving holistic care through collaborative strategies with others; Assures detailed, current comprehensive documentation is contained in the patient's medical record; Identifies problems to be resolved through physician action, nursing action, or appropriate interdisciplinary referral; Interacts with patients, their families and significant others to facilitates care, including appropriate education related to health promotion, disease prevention and medication management; Provides care management, patient education and monitoring of pharmacological effectiveness and side effects; Interprets and applies organizational policies and procedure and national standards; Provides direct patient care and documents patient responses to care in a clear concise manner; Utilizes human and material resources to provide efficient and effective patient care; Assures continuing improvement of service to patient, including, effective customer service; Participates in performance Improvement activities of outpatient care and the development of policies and procedure; Ensures compliance with all patient rights and regulatory standards; Participates in the Prevention and Management of Disruptive Behavior (PMDB); Some outpatient mental health programs require driving to the community to see veterans in VA approved facilities or veteran's home. Work Schedule:

Graduate of a school of professional nursing approved by the appropriate State-accrediting agency and accredited by one of the following accrediting bodies at the time the program was completed by the applicant:
The Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or The Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). In cases of graduates of foreign schools of professional nursing, possession of current, full, active and unrestricted registration will meet the requirement of graduation from an approved school of professional nursing. OR The completion of coursework equivalent to a nursing degree in a MSN Bridge Program that qualifies for professional nursing registration constitutes the completion of an approved course of study of professional nursing. Students should submit the certificate of professional nursing to sit for the NCLEX to the VA along with a copy of the MSN transcript. (Reference VA Handbook 5005, Appendix G6) OR In cases of graduates of foreign schools of professional nursing, possession of a current, full, active and unrestricted registration will meet the requirement for graduation from an approved school of professional nursing. Experience:
Bachelor's in Nursing (BSN), preferred; At least 1 year of inpatient or outpatient Mental Health RN experience; Seeking someone with Excellent written/oral communication skills; Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association or the Military Training Network (MTN). Grade Determinations:
The following criteria must be met in determining the grade assignment of candidates, and if appropriate, the level within a grade:
Nurse I Level I - An Associate Degree (ADN) or Diploma in Nursing, with no additional nursing practice/experience required. Nurse I Level II - An ADN or Diploma in Nursing and approximately 1 year of nursing practice/experience; OR an ADN or Diploma in Nursing and a bachelor's degree in a related field with no additional nursing practice/experience; OR a Bachelor's of Science in Nursing (BSN) with no additional nursing practice/experience. Nurse I Level III - An ADN or Diploma in Nursing and approximately 2-3 years of nursing practice/experience; OR an ADN or Diploma in Nursing and a Bachelor's degree in a related field and approximately 1-2 years of nursing practice/experience; OR a BSN with approximately 1-2 years of nursing practice/experience; OR a Master's degree in nursing (MSN) or related field with a BSN and no additional nursing practice/experience. Nurse II - A BSN with approximately 2-3 years of nursing practice/experience; OR ADN or Diploma in Nursing and a Bachelor's degree in a related field and approximately 2-3 year's of nursing practice/experience; OR a Master's degree in nursing or related field with a BSN and approximately 1-2 year's of nursing practice/experience; OR a Doctoral degree in nursing or meets basic requirements for appointment and has doctoral degree in a related field with no additional nursing practice/experience required. This position potentially requires flexibility in schedule and assignments, as this is a 24/7 hospital. The incumbent must be poised and articulate in communicating with people of varied educational levels and varied ethnic backgrounds. Must be proficient in both written and spoken English. Must be proficient working with computer based progmm5 (i.e. CPRS, BCMA, Microsoft Office) and use of computers. Willing to work cooperatively as a member of 11 team in all assignments. Makes caring for the veteran his/her priority while in the work selling and demonstrates customer service principles in all aspects of work. Self-motivated in the pursuit of meeting professional work standards. Responsible for maintaining Basic Life Support (BLS) for direct patient care positions and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required in specific specialty areas following current local policy. The incumbent is expected to accomplish all mandated annual training programs and following orientation to this position, rotate to other clinical areas. The incumbent is expected to take professional responsibility for attending in-service and continuing education activities, maintaining licensure and appropriate certification.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
