Administrative Support Assistant

Duties may include:
Assist in developing the office budget for multiple accounts with various sub-activities and funding sources. Analyze historical financial data to assist with the Annual Work Plan. Process various transactions such as obligations, collections, distributions, and reconciliations in an automated financial system. Ensure all budget and financial related responsibilities comply with existing practices and policies and make recommendations on improving overall budgetary operations. Assist supervisors in preparing position descriptions, rating plans, job analyses, including initiating and tracking requests for personnel actions. Prepare resource related reports, charts, graphs, and other documents, and review and/or edit content to be included in environmental assessments, resource management plan reviews, and other planning documents. Assists in facilities operations by performing simple inspections such as office equipment and security systems. Schedules and dispatches motor vehicles, including sending for repairs/maintenance. Assists in property management to ensure accuracy of ownership and updated inventories. Purchases supplies and equipment, and serves as collections officer. Resolve complex travel issues and review travel records for accuracy. Enter or validate time and attendance records. Prepare, edit, and finalize official correspondence. Coordinate, schedule, and maintain training records. Assist in records reviews, inventories, and dispositions according to records schedule. Process daily incoming and outgoing mail. Ensure all official forms are stocked and kept up to date. Maintain the central filing system of official records, directives, manuals, orders, etc. Provide general information about district wide operations to the public both orally and in writing, and may staff front desk of a receiving office or visitor center. Physical Demands:
Work is mostly sedentary in nature. The incumbent frequently moves throughout the office area to work with and provide assistance to other Field Office staff members.Work Environment:
Work is performed primarily indoors in a typical office environment. The position requires the ability to work several projects at the same time with frequent interruptions. The incumbent may also encounter hostile walk-in members of the public. You may be required to wear an official BLM uniform as appropriate to the duties performed. To qualify at the GS-05 you must have:
At least one full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-04 OR Four (4) years of education above high school in any field OR An equivalent combination of experience and education. Specialized experience equivalent to the GS-04 includes:
assisting an office in areas such as preparing correspondence, locating data for reports, arranging for travel, timekeeping, property inventory, space management, initiating personnel action, collect money, performing simple budget transactions in an automated system, reviewing expenditures of funds, assist in various administrative areas, greeting the public, answering questions, and directing to a specialist such as fire, law enforcement, recreation, wild horse and burros, abandoned mines, and permitting. To qualify at the GS-06 you must have:
At least one full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-05 OR One full year (18 Semester hours) of graduate level education directly related to administration OR An equivalent combination of experience and education. Specialized experience equivalent to the GS-05 includes:
providing administrative support to an office in areas such as preparing correspondence, compiling reports, arranging travel, timekeeping, property inventory, space management, initiating personnel actions, collect money, managing a budget, reviewing expenditures of funds, providing guidance and advice in various administrative areas, greeting the public and interpreting regulations, procedures, and laws pertaining to a natural resources based agency or organization.To qualify at the GS-07 you must have:
At least one full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-06 OR One full year (18 Semester hours) of graduate level education directly related to administration OR An equivalent combination of experience and education. Specialized experience equivalent to the GS-06 includes:
independently providing administrative support to an office in areas such as preparing correspondence, data analysis and compiling reports, arranging travel, timekeeping, property inventory, space management, initiating personnel actions, completing collection review, managing a budget, reviewing expenditures of funds, providing guidance and advice in various administrative areas, greeting the public and interpreting regulations, procedures, and laws pertaining to a natural resources based agency or organization. You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement. Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade requirement in accordance with 5 CFR 300.604. If you are a current Federal employee in the General Schedule (GS) pay plan and applying for a promotion opportunity, you must have completed a minimum of 52 weeks at the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression for the position being filled.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
